Silas

By August 17, 2017October 11th, 2017Poem

It was last winter.

At Christmas.

I took you for a long walk

Down the ancient way.

The funny dog was on the leash

But you

As always

Unleashed

Right next to me

Until you weren’t

And I couldn’t see you

I called

But you can’t hear anymore

I wasn’t worried

Of course

You were fine

Unless

You went to go lay down

In the woods

And sleep

For the rest of ever

But you didn’t seem

Ready

Still

It was weird

Where were you

If not

By me

Back at the house

That’s where

You hadn’t

Gone to the woods

To die

But you had

Gone home

To sleep
